Today, publishing industries face a quantity and quality issue, because of more content is created than readers actually need - thus, they generate less revenue.
Publishers, in the desire to grow ad sales, accept any and every deal that comes in their way. For them it is thought to be good as it means to gain more money per page view. Alas, it is wrong as we democratize content through blogging and social platforms - publishers will struggle to make profit out of it.
To solve the quantity issue, publishers don't necessarily need to publish the most content in the shortest time. Furthermore, hiring more writers and adding more content to an already supersaturated market will only increase costs.
To overcome the quality issue, digital publishers have to work with brands and businesses to develop content and creatives that will be useful for the audience. Success depends on the ability of both parties to conservatively choose their relationship with the overarching goal of providing meaningful experiences for consumers and readers.
Readers today are still easily baited, but they are far more discerning than ever about what they spend their time on, which publications they trust, and how they consume content. Therefore, digital publishers must work hard to earn more reader trust, engage them and adapt to ever-changing media consumption habits.
